Activity 2 – Previewing and Concept Maps
One of the most important procedures you have learned when strategically reading is to preview the chapter in order to realize what you will be learning, how it connects to what you already know, and what new concepts and processes you will be learning.
Next, in this activity, you will learn how to apply these strategies to a section of a chapter from a History textbook while also creating a Previewing Concept Map to help you remember and organize what you have learned. Previewing and creating a map at the same time will significantly improve your understanding and your memory from what you have read.
In this activity, I will show you how to create a Previewing Concept Map. If you haven’t already, download the free, open source, History chapter, Corbott et al. (2019) U.S. History: Religious Upheaval in the Developing Atlantic World
